Want to update information about this school? Click here.
Adamson University (AdU) was founded in 1932 by Greek chemist Dr. George Lucas Adamson, whose aim was to train young students the practical applications of chemistry. The school, formerly named Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry, started out as a specialized institution for chemistry. However, it later on expanded its curriculum adding engineering, education, and arts and sciences courses.

At present, Adamson University has 8 colleges offering a wide range of courses in Architecture, Business Administration, Education, Liberal Arts, Engineering, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Science. AdU also has more than 50 graduate programs in various specialties. Several courses were listed as Centers of Development (COD) by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).

Adamson University has also been granted an Autonomous status. The Autonomous status is given to higher education institutions based on three criteria: the long tradition of integrity, commitment to excellence, and sustainability and viability of operations. Institutions with this status can create and choose their own curriculum, establish linkages through distance education, and, in general, have less government regulation. Aside from the undergraduate and graduate courses, AdU also provides Basic Education and Senior High Programs.
