Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is a public education institution in Uttarakhand, India. It was founded in 1845 as a local training school for engineers. In 1847, it was formally established as the Thomason College of Civil Engineering. The college had another change in its name until it received its university status and was changed to University of Roorkee in 1947 until it was converted into its present name in 2001. He offered the school to the State of Florida in 1866 in exchange for the relocation of the East Florida Seminary to Gainesville.
