Or maybe na-complete mo na ang quarantine bucket list mo and now you’re finding other ways to keep yourself busy? If you’re a technical vocational student or considering your career options and are looking to get those brain cells working again, we suggest looking into these tech-voc programs! To help you get started, here are a few free online courses from TESDA that might interest you.

Housekeeping NC II (Tourism)

Working towards a certificate in housekeeping means not only preparing for manual services at a hotel such as cleaning guest rooms and mending basic repairs, but also about developing customer service skills. Those of you who would characterize yourself as being organized, accommodating, and having impeccable English oral and written skills, you may want to consider this tech-voc program! Housekeeping, despite possible gender stereotypes, is not automatically a woman’s job. Many men work within this profession, and many women’s interests lie in other TVL fields like the Industrial Arts, or ICT.

Food Processing NC II

Are you a foodie? Well, you may not be able to eat anything, but in this program you’ll be prepared to process food through various methods, from fermentation to dehydration! In addition, the course not only examines the stages of manufacturing, but its end products and how to inspect for defects. Those who achieve certification for this program are qualified within food processing/production, and quality control (and who knows, maybe you’ll be able to sneak a few snacks in between!)

Beauty Care Services (Nail Care) NC II

If you’re into everything beauty, you’d definitely enjoy studying this course. You’ll learn the procedures of manicures and pedicures while simultaneously improving your personal presence such as body language and demeanor in order to create a welcoming environment for your customers. While this industry is often associated with women, anyone who is passionate about uplifting others through beauty care should be empowered to do so. Even if you don’t intend to pursue a career as a nail technician, we’re sure you’d definitely pick up some tips on how to do your own nails!

Organic Agriculture Production NC II
_{TVL Strand: Agri-Fishery Arts}

This program has a series of courses preparing you for farmwork, from learning how to plant and grow seeds to solving estimate calculations. Despite its well rounded and in depth approach to studying agricultural work, the course is relatively short, only taking about 300 hours to complete! While many people assume that only men farm, in reality, women play an indispensable role in the Philippines’ agricultural industry. Not only do they receive equal access to land resources, but they are a part of the decision making process – from deciding the cost of livestock and crops to actively participating in agricultural meetings arranged by local offices.

Computer System Servicing NC II
_{TVL Strand: Industrial Arts}

If you’ve got a mathematical mind, this might be just the thing for you! You’ll get a deeper understanding of technology and its electrical circuits through learning how to perform, repair, and configure computer systems. People who have completed this course often continue their careers as maintenance technicians, or computer assemblers. We particularly call on all STEM girls to consider this as an option!

ICT Modules

If you’re interested in programming and designing websites, the Information and Communications Technology TVL strand is a great place to start. We are eagerly waiting for TESDA’s online certification program,but until then, you can start developing your programming skills with self-paced materials such as “Microsoft for Beginners” and “SMART Technopreneurship 101.” Learning basic programming and entrepreneurship skills are essential to several professional fields, and all genders are encouraged to apply!

If you’re not a current or prospective technical vocational student, TESDA still offers incredible life-long learning skill modules that would help anyone, such as job interview training, and learning how to manage personal finances. Remember, life skills are as important as technical skills!
